In 1975, Herman was commissioned by
the city of Amsterdam to brighten up a large appartment complex in the
Bijlmermeer. He came up with a monumental ceramic sculpture, which he made in
the famous workshops of De Porceleyne
Fles in Delft. Herman's sculpture has survived the years surprisingly
well and can still be admired.

Herman van Valen's work is owned by various
Dutch departments and cities, the AMC in Amsterdam and several private
collectors in the Netherlands, the USA, Canada and Japan.
From 1962 on, Herman van Valen exhibited his
etchings and paintings on a regular basis.
On Tuesday 11 june 1996, Herman died in his
sleep, surrounded by his family. His memory lives on in the hearts of
his family and friends, as well as in numerous works of art.
